Team Pegasus wins Mumm 30 North American Championship

The 2006 Mumm 30 North American Championship, hosted by Macatawa Bay Yacht Club in Holland Michigan, began with the first day of racing on Thursday (9/21/06) and continues with racing on Friday and Saturday.
Special thanks to Roger Gamache Associates and Ameriprise for sponsoring the 2006 Mumm 30 North American Championship. The Macatawa Bay Yacht Club opened its facilities to the Mumm 30 Class and provided a spectacular racing venue and perfect sailing conditions in winds that were generally 14 knots or higher for the final two days of racing.

Two heavyweights entered the arena on Saturday, having earned the right to spar for the 2006 Mumm 30 North American Championship. The arena was a perfect race course with two races contested in 16-20 knots of wind with 1.25 mile courses, perfectly laid by Principle Race Officer Barbara Gamache and her crack Race Committee team.
Foreign Affair and Team Pegasus began the day with a one point lead favoring Foreign Affair. Team Pegasus sailed strongly to two second place finishes to Foreign Affairs 5th in the first race and a race win in the final race. Team Pegasus accomplished a one point victory over Foreign Affair. The Pegasus victory resulted from a battle in the last race with their second place in the final race coming down to the final surf as they approached the finish with Turbo Duck, with Pegasus finishing just inches ahead of the charging Turbo Duck.
Turbo Duck had the best day on Saturday with a 1st in Race 9 and a 3rd in Race 10, to move from 7th to 4th Place overall. Team Krav Maga finished 5th overall with TeamBOLD and Illusion having difficult days on the Race course to finish 6th and 7th overall.
Barking Mad's 3rd place finish at the Mumm30 NAs resulted in a Series win in the 2006 Great Lakes Championship Series combining with their victory at Toronto Nood Regatta Second Place in the Great Lakes Championship Series went to Notorious and 3rd Place went to Illusion.
The Mumm 30 North American Championship was a great warm-up for the 2006 World Championship to be held in Miami Beach , Florida November 29-December 2, 2006. A large international fleet is expected to contest for the coveted Mumm 30 World Championship and great One Design racing is expected, a standard enjoyed by all Mumm 30 owners.
