Heartbreaker arrives in Canada for the Canada's Cup.
Toronto, Canada - With the Canada's Cup just days away the Heartbreaker Sailing Team is now in Toronto preparing for themselves for a hard fought battle ahead. Bob Hughes' has charter another Farr 40 to help his team practice for the final three days before the Canada's Cup. He has also brought in Jes Graham-Hansen to drive the boat.
The first day of practice on Wednesday was in 15-25 knot winds which made it tricky to set a starting line out on the lake. So the teams improvized and set up inside the Harbor. This also allowed Canada's Terry McLaughlin and Andy Horton the ability to come out and watch their campetition prepare as they watched the entire practice session from a powerboat. So close to the action that the two boats circled them in prestarts more than once.
With the windy conditioned the teams were at full speed most of the time and didn't hold back and needed to fend off a couple of times to avoid damaging the yachts. Breakdowns still did occur due to the big breeze which meant extra time working on the boats after sailing. Two more days of sailing before the event starts. Don't forget to log onto canadascup.org to see live updates from the water.
